The story behind the name Kvasi
Kvasi takes its name from Kvasir, one of the wisest figures in Norse mythology. Created when different groups set aside conflict and combined their knowledge, Kvasir symbolised the belief that wisdom emerges when people learn from one another. His story represents curiosity, understanding, cooperation, and the pursuit of knowledge beyond boundaries.
That symbolism felt especially meaningful to us. As founders, Alex and May grew up in Denmark and Singapore, shaped by different cultures, traditions, and educational experiences. In many ways, Kvasi reflects the story of Kvasir itself — bringing together different perspectives, experiences, and ways of learning to create something stronger than either could alone. Despite our different backgrounds, we found ourselves drawn to many of the same ideas about learning: curiosity, exploration, understanding, and the confidence that comes from genuine mastery.
Kvasi is our attempt to bring those experiences together. Inspired by the origins of Kvasir, we aim to combine the best of both worlds, blending strong foundations with independent exploration, academic mastery with creativity, and structure with the freedom to discover. We believe learning should help children develop not only knowledge, but also confidence, curiosity, character, and capability.
The name also reflects our belief that learning is never truly complete. Beyond its connection to Kvasir, "quasi" echoes the idea of something that is never quite finished or final. We see learning as a lifelong journey rather than a destination, and our goal is to create a world where children can continue discovering, growing, and connecting ideas throughout their lives.
